If you can dream it, you can do it. – Walt Disney
In December of 2015 we sat around our meeting table, filled little keychains with glitter and dreamed of the possibilities. We then took it a step further – we wrote down our goals. Throughout the year, we tracked our goals with posters and on Thursday, Dec. 22 we closed our office reviewed our goals, celebrated what we achieved, reviewed how we could improve and set goals for 2017.
Goals that we celebrated:
People: Our team in 2016 grew by 2 full-time team members!
Customers: For 2016, we hit 2 out of 3 of our major goals and the one that we didn’t hit we missed narrowly by 3 stars.
Theme: We stuck to our theme for 2016 which was gratitude by design. We want everyone who comes into contact with ByFarr to know that we care deeply about what we do and that we’re excited for the opportunity to do work that matters.
On Wednesday, January 11th the ByFarr team leaves for Orlando, Florida where we’ll spend Wednesday until Sunday celebrating our goals achieved, studying customer service, planning for our clients, applying magic that we glean and enjoying the Disney experience. Although we are closing our office, we’re opening our minds so that we refresh and grow so we have the best year ever for ourselves and our customers.
I’m a very action/goal oriented person so I need a target or I’m all over the place. Here are 3 things that I highly recommend that have helped us here at ByFarr:
1. Write down your goals! One of my favorite quotes by Napolean Hill – A goal is a dream with a deadline. If you goals are not written down, you don’t take them seriously. Check out this awesome video by Zig Ziglar: https://youtu.be/Ae-VJ_lauCw?t=50s What are your business goals for 2017? Our last post was about goal setting – we like to follow the SMART guide.
2. Make your goals visible! Does your team know where the business is going? If not share them and place them in a visible place. We have our goals in our back room that we see every day (on a glittery poster board and yes, we apply stars!) We track our goals on the board and celebrate together the closer we are to the win. >>DIY Video of Shana lettering 2017?<<
3. Celebrate the wins! For the small wins that lead to the overarching goal we “ring the bell”. For our overall large annual goal, we know that if we win, we’ll share as a team the reward. For 2016 it’s a Disney trip. For 2017, we have a really large goal that we’ll share where we’re going once we hit our mark. Agree with your team about the reward. Depending on your business it may be team lunches or something much larger than Disney.
We look forward to sharing with you what we learn from Disney – follow us on instagram if you’d like to see the happiest Laura Windham as she enters Harry Potter World or Brynley rocking her favorite outfit of fanny pack and airbrushed t-shirt.
